It was good weather for a run Saturday morning. There was a cloud cover and the breeze was blowing. More than 100 runners and walkers took advantage of the good conditions to participate in the Taylor Watford Run/Walk for Hope. It started behind Brookland-Cayce High School.
The Taylor Watford Foundation was founded by Jimmy and Jade Watford. “This was a good crowd,” said Jade. “We’re very thankful for everyone who came out and their effort to help us fight substance abuse.” Taylor Watford was Jimmy’s son and Jade’s brother. He died of a drug overdose. The Taylor Watford Foundation was established to help others fight the growing drug-use epidemic.
The course ran through The Avenues of Cayce. Runners came from all over Lexington County, from Gilbert to Gaston. Ben Clark of York, with a time of 16:55, was the winner. Mathew Burgess of Chesnee, 17:41, was second and Joy Miller, 18:40 was third.
