Irmo restaurants are reopening for outdoor dining beginning Friday.
In an emergency called meeting Thursday, Irmo Town Council voted unanimously to let the restaurants open with the limitation of outside dining.
There is an emergency order in place, inposed by S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster that bans restaurants and bars from “any kind of on-premises consumption in the state of South Carolina.”
Irmo Mayor Barry Walker said the move by Irmo is not going against the governor’s order.
He also said it’s time to show some relief for restaurants that have been closed for weeks, except for pick-up and delivery service.
Walker said opening outside restaurant dining is “for our citizens in our town of Irmo.”
